Me, Myself and Lies

We have officially completed the first week of our bible study by author Jennifer Rothschild. For anyone who was not able to be with us this last week, we each brought the oldest item from our closets and had a little show and tell. We then answered these 2 questions...

1. Why is this item still in my closet

2. What might that item say about me.

We all had a tendency to hang on to things for much the same reasons... for good or bad, better or worse, useful or useless, each item carried with it some piece of our past that we just can't seem to let go.

We do much the same with our "spiritual" closets. We tuck away pieces of our past experiences that we just cant seem to let go.

So...

What are you hanging on to?

Could it be a grudge? Unforgiveness? Bitterness? Shame? Jealousy? Hatred? Fear? Insecurity?

No matter how far back in the closet we may try to stuff these, they eventually find their way into our wardrobe and we wear them just like a bad habit. (or a bad wig if you saw my show and tell :))

All of these would earn any of us top priority on the biblical version of What Not to Wear.

God, however, offers us a better wardrobe solution. And, it doesn't cost a dime. Only our willingness to surrender our "closets" to him.

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Col 3:12

This coming week, we will take a look at the roll our "closets" play in our relationships and in our productiveness.

Come join us next Sunday at 5pm. It's still not too late, even if you were unable to join us the past 2 weeks. Shoot me an email and I will get a book to you asap! My email is tstanley@arkwest.com.

See you soon,
Tonya

PS. For week 2: Dont forget to bring one item from your closet that doesn't belong there.

Christmas Party

Change of plans...instead of having our party at the church fellowship hall, we are having the party at my mom and dads house. If you want to ride the bus out there, they are meeting at the church at 5:30ish. The party starts at 6.

I think I forgot to mention on here, but please do not spend over $10.00. We just want to have a good time hanging out with one another!

Also, if you plan on attending, please email me at danvillefbcwomens@hotmail.com.
It will help to have a headcount!

It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas!

Hey Ladies,
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends. We are now gearing up for our Christmas Party. The Ladies Connection Christmas party will be Thursday, December 10th at 6:00pm. The theme for our Christmas Party is "Christmas at Home". We are asking each woman to bring a Christmas serving piece- trays, containers, cookie cutters, decorating utensils and supplies, platters, etc. This is just something different and what woman can't use a fun Christmas serving piece to put some snacks on? Anything you can use in your kitchen during the holidays is a perfect gift. Please have your item gift wrapped.

We are also asking you to bring one Christmas recipe. We will have recipe cards on the table for those who want to copy any recipes down.

One last thing, the Battered Women's shelter is in need of some items. We think this is a wonderful ministry opportunity to donate supplies to women in need. Here are some items they are needing.

Slippers, Nightgowns, Pajamas, Socks, Robes, Undergarments, Toiletries-shampoo, conditioner, lotions, toothbrush and paste, etc.
Things for the Kids: Children's PJ's, Slippers, Undergarments, Socks, Nightgowns, Toiletries

Please bring your items for the shelter to the church as soon as you can. Please have them labeled "Women's Shelter" and we will take care of it!

Have a Great Week!!!

The other book study is meeting Tuesday's at 12:00 noon.

Prayer groups-
Sarah Kluthe's- 4:45 in the sanctuary on Sundays
Tonya Stanley- 4:45 in the sanctuary on Sundays
Jeri Dennis- 12:00 noon on Tuesdays

We will be going to the movies this Saturday, November 21st. We will leave from the church at 5:45. Please be there a few minutes before so we can load up and get to the movies. We will be watching "The Blind Side" with Sandra Bullock. This looks like an excellent movie...might want to bring some tissues!

For our Secret Sister program- I know some people are having trouble getting their gifts and surprises to their sister. We have decided that you can bring your gift to the church as a drop off and we can email your sister and let her know there is a surprise at the church for her. If you need to use this, please have your surprise there so we can get it to her at the right time!

Hope you have a great week!
